Big fun at our house this morning. Hubby yelling at me at 6.00am to GET UP, GET UP!! I flew out of bed and three of our five dogs had been targeted by a porcupine!! They had them in their toes, legs, chins, cheeks and noses!! All their tongues were bleeding and they were all frantic! After a quick call to the emergency vet, we were on our way and they were all sedated and de-quilled!!
They are now sleeping it off and our wallet is considerably lighter!

This is Jack

Jack again

Teddy in the car on the way to the vet.

Hi Amelia!

Poor puppies!! What a terrible way to start off a day - especially for them! I'm so glad that they are fine and sleeping soundly! Big hugs and scratches behind the ears to them!

Hugs,
Barb

I am so very sorry. How frightening for all of you. I am just thankful for vets and what they can do for our pets - I hope everyone has a quiet and restful evening.

What a start to the week. Poor little things it must have been very painful for them. Glad they are recovering now.

Oh noooooo, the poor babies!! I can just imagine how painful it must have been for them. I'm guessing they'll now have a healthy fear of porcupines in the future! lol Owie!! xoxo

How dreadful for you and your dogs.
I have had this experience with a dog. She was a lovely quiet dog named Dutchess. One summer she tangled with a porcupine 6 times. Three of those times required a trip to the vet.

I also had a cow that got a snoot full. She was on her own, I had no way to dealing with her. Cows are very curious animals and want to find out what the prickly critter on the field is.

The poor puppies, that does look sore. Hope they are all doing OK and the porcupine is sorry

Oh my gosh, how are your dogs, have they fully recovered. Our wildlife is a lot more genteel than yours, I am not sure if I could cope with pulling porcupine needles out of my dogs noses.

I saw this the other day but see I never left a comment. I would hate to get those spines in my body anywhere but in my nose is got to hurt. Does the vet take them out for you?
